Is this for you?
- PPAP submissions get rejected or go back and forth with the customer.
- APQP is a checklist filled in after the fact, not a plan used to run the launch.
- New launches bring the same problems every time: capacity, capability, packaging, gauges.
- Your team is preparing for a new customer or OEM programme.
Who should attend
Programme and project managers, quality, process and product engineers, and anyone in a cross-functional launch team, including purchasing and logistics where relevant.
What participants practise
- The five APQP phases, with inputs, outputs and the questions to ask at each gate
- Running a launch plan for a sample part: feasibility, timing, the FMEA, control plans and validation
- The PPAP elements and submission levels: what each element proves, and common reasons for rejection
- Run-at-rate and initial process studies: what "ready" really means
- Customer-specific requirements: where to find them and how they change the plan
Choose the format
| Format | For | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Awareness (4 hours) | Wider launch team | What APQP and PPAP are for, and each function's role |
| Practitioner (1 day) | Engineers, programme managers | The phases, gates, PPAP elements and common pitfalls, on a sample launch |
4 hours includes a tea break; a full day is about 8 hours, with lunch and two tea breaks. This course is also part of the core tools courses. Help with one of your own live launches or PPAP submissions is consulting work, not part of the course. Ask us about it.
What changes afterwards
APQP becomes the way the launch is run, not a report written afterwards, and PPAP submissions go through with fewer rounds.
Questions people ask
Which reference do you follow?
The AIAG APQP manual (3rd edition) and PPAP manual (4th edition), plus your customers' specific requirements. Please use licensed copies; Kattamaipu is independent and not affiliated with AIAG.
Can you help with a live PPAP submission?
Yes, as a separate consulting engagement. The training uses a sample launch, so participants practise before a live submission.
